Preview: Make your first take
Capture a short sound and preserve the original.
Learn
A recording keeps sound so you can listen again and make choices. Today your job is to capture ten seconds you can recognize. Save the session before you close the DAW. You’ll need it next time to continue editing and mixing. Keep any associated audio files with it. To share your recording, export a stereo mix in the format your teacher requests. Listen to the exported file from beginning to end before submitting it. Check for missing sound, an abruptly cut ending or anything that differs from what you heard in the session. Start with comfortable headphone volume. Do not record other people without the classroom permissions your teacher has arranged.
Hear
Play the supplied melody once. Identify a beginning, a changing middle and an ending. Your first take can be a tapped rhythm, an instrument or an invented spoken phrase.
Do
Create a project and give it a name you will recognize later.
Choose a recording input, make a three-second test, then listen. Ask for help if it is silent.
Record ten seconds of your own sound, or import melody.wav if recording access is unavailable.
Keep an untouched original; save the project. Mark whether you recorded or imported.
Evidence
Original take or imported reference, project name, and a one-sentence description of what you captured.
Full lessons, listening files and downloads require enrollment. Answer keys require separately approved instructor access. Completion is based on reviewed work; certificates are not issued automatically.
District adoption and standards
This program provides explicit learning objectives, required evidence, assessment criteria and portfolio review. Each student task is mapped in the district crosswalk. Student and educator standards are reported separately, and local authorities retain decisions about course credit, CTE coding and professional-learning recognition.
